Wild Ones Mid-Mitten Chapter Native Plant Garden Grant

Wild Ones Mid-Mitten Chapter (WOMMC) is a voice for the natural landscaping movement. Our nonprofit promotes environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities. If you have a project that is consistent with our mission, we welcome your application for assistance from our chapter. Maximum grant amount is $250.00 per year. Who is eligible? Those eligible include non-profit and public entities or individuals working in conjunction with same.  Projects should be located in Midland, Bay, Saginaw or Isabella county.  Each project should be community focused and publicly accessible.

Grant awardees will be expected to provide a plan and a yearly follow up report to Wild Ones Mid-Mitten Chapter. The follow-up report will describe the progress of the project for a year following the grant award. Follow-up will include an oral presentation with pictures of the project to be presented at one of the Wild Ones membership programs. The presentation may be as brief as 10 minutes in length.

Awards will be made by late March.   Applications should be short—three to five pages in length, with additional attachments—and contain the following information:

  1. Organization name, mailing address, and date of application. Please include a description of your organization, and whether or not you are affiliated with a larger organization or company.
  2. Where will the project be located? Name of site and
  3. Project Coordinator name and contact information: phone and
  4. Summary description of project—what do you plan to do? Attach pictures of the site and drawings of the site
  5. Plan—how will the project be carried out? Please describe the phases of the project together with a timeline for each phase. For example, you might include dates for finalization of the plan, securing materials, securing other resources, securing workers, beginning site preparation, beginning planting, and project completion. Provide a list of plants using both common and scientific names, a list of other materials, a planting timeline, and your source(s) of
  6. What is your plan for continued maintenance of the site over the next three years? Please identify the person who will be responsible for obtaining resources (human, financial, other) for the site. How will weeding and watering be accomplished, how often, and by whom? If the site coordinator leaves the organization, what is the plan for transferring responsibilities to another person?
  7. Budget: Please attach a detailed proposed What help are you requesting from WOMMC (e.g. funding, expert advice, or donations of plants)? Be specific. What other organizations/persons will be involved, and what are they contributing? Is implementation of the project dependent on the receipt of money beyond what Wild Ones Mid-Mitten Chapter is contributing?
  8. Please attach a letter of support from an individual or board responsible for project oversight. In addition, provide letters of support attesting to the ability of your organization to complete and maintain the proposed
